A Girl in the World & the World in a Girl…

{December 22, 2012}   Love and War.

Check the memo:

All is fair in Love and War when:
Love is really Love
and when
War is really War.

We declare Love.
We declare War. love

When it comes to people you love, and who you know loves you
when angered about an action; roll up on with whom you are
concerned with the the strength of 1000 men.
Go through hell and high water to get your clarity
and answers rather than coming down on them like a ton of bricks
then asking questions later. That’s declaring war…

And that kind of combat should be reserved for our enemies, not for
people who truly care + have declared: LOVE for us.

{December 16, 2012}   Love, Lack & Stacks.

jarofheartsI know love, so yes, I love him back
He loves me for what he’s been missing and lacks (since his stacks)
But it’s like…
He wants to screw his head on (then wear it)
Thinks because his heart beats, it’s “love” (like how I know love to be)
He don’t know it like I know it (and need it for “me”)

I wouldn’t want him to think I played with his heart and stomped on the chance
But “dancing with the devil” would be the name of this dance (if I just wanted
to dance with somebody who thinks that he really loves me)…

You see…
The problem is…
He can’t even keep his heart in a straight line
Every little thing I do [now or then] I say is a crime
So now…how can we really dance in a solid straight line?

His heart goes ‘a flippin’ and a floppin’ (and crying)
Ricochetin’ off into mine and all goes: BUST (then I’m dying)

Little did he know, I had his back (and just like THAT! he’s back to lack)
handsheartI never sold it to him, so if I asked him to let go and give me mine back

safekeepingsThe good thing about it (I guess)
Is…
He’ll still be left with his stacks…

{December 14, 2012}   At Least You Know Love.

You stuck your neck out (you dared)
When I had no interest (or even cared)
Shared things with me (I could tell you were scared)
I took notice (and just wanted to be there)
For you…

Yes, others have tried too
Stuck their necks out even further than you

They wanna play understudy (from reading the lines)
Having no idea, gotta read in between’em (to shine)
…For me to even see you

You did that (now I’m blind)…blinding_light_this_one

I love having moments to slow you down
Make you think and feel for a minute
Regardless whatever else may, or may never be in it

At least now, you know: Pure…pure…love…

{May 13, 2012}   She.

All women are BEAUTIFUL.

When you think of, or say the word:
“UNCONDITIONAL,” no role should race through
to the finish line in the crevices of your mind than “MOTHER”:
The epitome of a character that, once accepted,
there is no understudy, but rather: a woman who embodies
what the true meaning what “unconditional” is;
who can give you the BEST examples of what it means to be
SELFLESS as a result of LOVING, CARING for [and even worrying!]
about another human being outside of herself.

It’s the woman in all of us, no matter what, or regardless…

So look into the eye of-hug, kiss, and tell her today
(and tomorrow, and the next day-going forward), whomever “She” may be.

{February 14, 2012}   Fortunate.

I love this song so much because it reminds me or three words that,
although have much ‘ado about sex and lust, where this song is
concerned-it has nothing to do with sex or lust:

“Adoration” and “Passion.”

It reminds me of the kind of love that a man feels for a woman
with his hands behind his back.
His only Valentine gift being a construction paper cut-out shape
of a heart; cut to precision-looking as though although it was handcrafted,
he took his time to cut it with what he felt about her-around the entire
circumference of the heart: carefully.

As he hands it to her, he does so with the kind of smile where he bites his bottom lip,
a dip in his brow-and tells her with his eyes: “It’s gonna get greater-later.”

And when the greater arrives-later, he still bites his bottom lip, with that same dip
in his brow; telling her that same thing with his eyes: in the good times, as well as the bad times.

He never lost that feeling about her-ever.

That is how and when a man truly feels fortunate to have his woman-all the time.

In my opinion. From in my heart.

{November 23, 2011}   Making The World A Better Place.

Of the manys ways we speak of-to make the world a better place,
none will ever be as remedial as the fact that if we were as
quick to love, as we are to hate. And as quick to be motivated
and inspired as the fear & envy we contemplate; the world
would be a much better place…

{November 6, 2011}   love, Love.

I often think about “love.”

It’s almost undefinable, because it can go on and on,
and mean so many things to so many different people.

But one thing I DO know about love is this:

You can’t just “love” someone because you “love”
so many things about them.

To truly love someone is to not only love their attributes,
virtues and light. You have to be introduced to, accept them,
and love them when their vices and darkness overshadows their light.

So what DO I know about love?

I know that if you ever called yourself loving someone,
and their vices stood in front of their lightness,
and you hated them-then what you did was lust them, like them,
or you were simply infatuated by them-what you felt wasn’t
really “love” for them.

Because you can’t love someone until you’ve loved and stuck
with them-even when you [felt like you] “hated” them…

No matter what kind of love, Love.

What is love?
Show me your hazy.
Show me your crazy.
I’ll show you: “yes,” “no,” “might be,” or “maybe.”

A friend and I were talking.
She laughed at me, but still thought about it.
She couldn’t answer it, but couldn’t discount it…

You know that one song.
…that one endearing song that’ll remind you of a certain
moment in time or a certain person
(for whatever reason-platonic, romantic or otherwise).

What about songs of heartbreak? We have them (some-not).
For those of us who have experienced heartbreak,
we all have had at least one song that’ll remind us of that
heartbreak (or that moment) huh? We laugh (or some cry if the well hasn’t run dry).

Isn’t it funny how music (whether instrumental or w/lyrics)
universally moves us to some moment, thought or even to some action (to dance, nod etc).

In case you didn’t know it by now, I love music (instrumental or w/lyrics).
And well, why belabor the obvious-if I can paint a scene with the emotion
in my head from the lyrics that I see or hear-well then, I’m hooked.

As a writer, I fancy myself and “expressionist” because I am a
“treat-the-description-like-you’re sparing-an-expense-so-the-reader-can-ingest-it-in-full-slash-spare-no-details-in-the-detail”
kind of writer (and person).
Every single word’s of description has to POP! It has to count for something,
in order to derive something from the reader; move them to some kind of action (or reaction)…

I love to write and I love music because I can really smell, hear,
touch and taste what I read (if it’s good to me) and the same happens
for me when I write something.

Like watching a movie.
While I am describing something, I have to hear theme music when I’m writing it.
My heart has to flutter and beat a certain way or my lashes have to be batting controllably.
That is the same experience I have to put a reader through-or else I’m not satisfied.
Something physical, mental or emotional has to happen in order for me to be
satisfied with a description of scene in whatever I write.

So when I absorb a piece of anything that resonates with me,
I feel “stolen away,” if you will.

I believe that certain words, certain music and even certain spirits and energies
“find” you-especially when it comes to love and love songs.
You can’t go digging through crates looking for a love song that reminds
you of your love/r. That is forced, it just has to “happen.”
I think that love songs have to find you and then that song connects an energy
or spirit to you. That feeling that you feel is like theme music from inside-out.

You think?

But is it: “like (infatuation),” “love” or “lust?”

I remember when I was a very young girl, the very first love song I heard and
comprehended nearly put me in a trance.
It was a song about a love song, but about a love-long (if that makes any sense to you).
The lyrics: “If we can be the best of lovers, yet, be the best of friends.
If we can try with everyday to make it better…As it grows…With any luck…Then I suppose:
the music…never ends…”
had me stunned.
Because if you substitute the word: “love” for “music,” you will understand this
whole point I am making in this blog (as you read on).

^-THAT SONG IS INCREDIBLE. LYRIC TO MELODY TO LYRIC…

It wasn’t until I grew up and understood “love” that the song resonated with me.
(I probably should have italicized “me”) because of my lil’ theory about (love) songs:
Some part of me can’t help but wonder that if a person is in “like” and a love song “finds”
them that reminds or intertwines their love/r in it…

Pause.

Don’t laugh at me like me friend did. And don’t judge me-please.

…But, like in the “details” of the lyrics of my favorite first love song (above mentioned),
will that love last (long)?

I know it may sound corny, but if anyone loves and is always curious about “love,”
(the idea of it, the act and expression of it): it’s me. Let me tell it, I will give
cupid or any other goddess’ of love a run for their arrows and harpsichord as long as I am
alive: liking, lusting or loving…

Laugh at me, but I feel justified, fearless (and somewhat entitled) on my thoughts about
love because I’m not like most people when it comes to being in denial about separating
like/infatuation from lust from love.

Most people are not willing to admit their hedonism and transgressions (when they happen).
They come up with these romanticized and almost “spiritual-like” reasons to camouflage
what was really moments of: lust or infatuation rather than just calling it what it is
(or was), getting caught up into emotional and mental situations-chasing and trying to
make “love” of lust, like or infatuation.

Any other definition than what it was-will do (for most people) when all we have to do
is ask-just to be clear on “where are we going with this?”…

As I grew to understand what love really is, I’m never in denial or unclear about
either one-I’m painlessly honest about it to myself, and to whom it may concern…

So with that, I feel somehow that I have some inalienable right to speak on it.

If I’m in “like,” I can admit that-I don’t try and make “love” of it.

If I’m in lust or infatuated, I can admit that too, without telling myself that it is
“love” (if it is not).

So, if I feel love or I am “in love,” I know it-I can (and will) admit that-open and
whole-heartedly.

I don’t confuse like, infatuation, lust or love just to satisfy my or someone else’s:
comfort, ego or heart in order to steal away with my moment, or to create one for
them…so let me have the floor why don’t you!

If you let me tell it and teach a class on love, I would probably interject this
romantic “love” prerequisite in order to tell if what you feel is really “love:”
Your love/r has to fit at least one song just as sure as Cinderella’s slipper
fit her foot! And both must have found the other!…Then it’s real…”

Laugh now…

Sure-I laugh at myself too, but I couldn’t help but ponder the thought about it
because I looked at it like this.
We’ve all loved a couple or few people in our lifetime, some-madly.
But when we think about it-not every one of those “loves” of ours-“came with a song” did they?
It just didn’t work out like that did it?
Or did you ever think about that?

I’m curious…

I stare at people who [are, or think] they’re in love.

I talk to people and ponder when they talk about love.
It’s so hard to talk about “love” I think because it’s a “walk” about love.

Walk with me on this:

Have you ever sat in a movie theatre and watched a movie with no sound-no music?

Could you enjoy a movie without the sound of music?

How could that work?

Keep laughing like my friend did, but I think that music is our theme song of a life of love,
just as much as love for life and living is. It’s like a vessel-a lifeline to our heart.

Songs of heartbreak do their own thing. They serve their purpose. They soothe our broken hearts;
rub and love all the hurt away.

Love songs do their own thing too. They make us feel good at the moment we hear those love songs
that reach us (even for no apparent reason or connection to another person).
Those are those love songs that we discover by accident-by turning on the radio or someone
turning us on to them.

But do the love songs that find us when we are in “like,” differentiate whether we are
in “like and infatuated” or “in lust?”

I wonder…

I’m not superstitious and my feet are firmly planted to the ground when it comes to “love,”
but some part of me can’t help but wonder that if a love song finds you + an energy or spirit,
and you both happen to be “in “like (or infatuated) with one another, does that differentiate
whether what we are feeling is really love, or lust?

Ponder…

{February 6, 2011}   DJ.

MISS NG: *Cheezy Radio Announcer Voice*
It’s your hostess with the most-est that puts the Fire in your Desire and the Flight in Your Night.
Caller, you’re off the air.
So close the door if you want me to respond:

CALLER:
Ah yes.
My love and me are having a tough time, and things have gone too far.
I’m trying real hard, to undo the scars and bring things back up to par.
I’m cooking dinner tonight, and my lil’ honey will be over here soon.
Please put together for me, a compilation CD that’ll make my baby’s heart croon.
Ohhh a CD mix of those songs that you do.
Oh my goodness!
I want one too.
All over town I keep hearing all about you.

MISS NG: * Cheezy Radio Announcer Voice*
Well I’m here for you.
To help you unlock all mysteries and provide you with all the clues.
But listen closely to what it is I do:
I tailor the song and the mood exclusive to you…
And to make you and your lover make it ‘do what it ‘due.
Just keep in mind, while you bump and grind
My remedy works and drunkens the heart and mind
But your lover must “see” only you-in this moment in time.
We don’t only pick the songs exclusive and desired by you.
This here is about love
And that’s not what love’s supposed to do.
We pick out the songs that your lover will see in you.
You just tell me the mood
I can lyrically make the two of you
Wake it and bake it make it taste like food.
Even if you want to take it higher and produce yourselves a brood.
I can surely make this thing that happen for you.
Soul to soul.
However do you want it?
However do you need it?
I can make hearts and break hearts
Like new brakes I can bleed ’em.
Listen to me now:
Are you a damsel in distress tonight?
Did your lover hurt you some days ago
And you still have the blues with a little bit of hurt-residue?
Are you gonna lay out in the floor
And place your hand on your forehead-sort of like a Harlequin romance?
Or do you want the song to croon
Turn your back to your lover like soap-opera love in the afternoon?
For that, I can put together dramatic music like Celine Dion’s:
It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” where the music is fierce!
It plays like a Broadway score.
Lyrics dancing in your heads
Telling a story of the hurt and pain your lover caused you and went Ham.
Each syllable, the music creeps up over the lyric and overpowers it
And then: BAMM!
You lay out it the floor-like a damsel in distress!
By the time your lovers kneels
And holds you in a sweet caress.
It will all be coming back to the both of you now
Your lover will then confess:
* NG sings*
‘Cause when you hold me like this. And when I hold you like that. We forgive and forget and it’s all coming back to me. The flesh and the fantasies all coming back to me now…”

CALLER:
Oh yes! Yes! I can see it now! Oh yes!
And then after that, I want to keep the pace slow
Because I want us to slow dance in the middle of the flo.’
Then we can take it to the back and close the door.
Where I’ll cut ‘em no slack, hurt-no more.

MISS NG: * Cheezy Radio Announcer Voice*
Awwwwwwwwwww sooki sooki now.
(NG snaps fingers and points at the computer screen)
I know what you want.
You want me to finish off the night having done all the love songs made possible by
Prince and classic R.Kelly and such.
Then move on over to their musical kinky side-much?
Is that what I’m hearing between the thoughts of this clutch?

CALLER:
Yes! That’s exactly what I want!

MISS NG: * Cheezy Radio Announcer Voice*
Okay I’m ready to put this compilation together for you.
Let me explain to you what I used to do.
I used to make compilation’s cassette tapes for your nights like this.
And send you lovers on many nights in bliss.
We’re in a different time and space now.
And what I do in this place now.
Is put you on a hold-so delicate, nice and sweet.
Get my permission for this mission from the artist via Tweet.
So hold a second and let me get this thing crackin.’
I waste no time. I’m never slackin.’
Hold please while I start my mackin:’

MISS NG: * Types on the computer*
@ArtistFriend:
Hello my artist friend. Are you down for the cause?

ArtistFriend:
Uh. What cause is that @NGtheDJ? (says Singing Friend)

NGTheDJ:
BeCAUSE of love is the cause…Because the music YOU make is what makes this
world go ‘round in applause. I would like to include your song on some
compilation sounds. Amongst other great artists like yourself I must say.
The lovers who are in receipt of this
Give testimonials about how your music gave them a lift
In return your CD’s will continuously sell.
Twenty years from now-you’ll still get checks in the mail.
So are you down for the cause-beCAUSE of love?

ArtistFriend:
Uh. Okay. Fine by me.

NGTheDJ:
I will get back with you on the specifics, my caller is smiling with glee

MISS NG:
Caller, I got all my e-signatures for this compilation disc.
But there’s one more thing I cannot dismiss.
Though, because of love, the disc is free.
You must still pay your own shipping and handling fee.
If downloaded, the download is just as free.
But you still must pay what we call: “a gripping and handling fee.”
Five dollars either way.
Here is the link for you to pay
Just press “send” and you’ll be on your way

* NG sends link*

CALLER:
Oh I’m so happy. I can’t WAIT!

MISS NG: * Cheezy Radio Announcer Voice*
Well I’ma tell you just like I oughta.
As sang like Sissy’s daughter:
“My Love is Your Love.”
But just like that 80’s hit
I’ma break you off with this little bit:
* NJ sings*
“Don’t you…Forget about me.”

MISS NG: * Cheezy Radio Announcer Voice continues*
Keep me in that heart
That just got itself a jump start.
I don’t ask for much.
But remember this, while in the midst of your lover’s clutch:
Just a penny for your thoughts.
A nickel for your kiss.
And a dime if s/he tells you that s/he loves you
…will suffice.
Trust me while s/he lusts you
For me, that will be nice.
Keep me in mind for those nights where you need a little temptin.’
‘Cause I’m never slacking up-in-here-on my pimpin.’

CALLER:
I will! I will! Thank you! Thank you!

{February 3, 2011}   Love is a Person Place or Thing

When you love you and see yourself in any person,
place or thing outside of yourself;
you only seek and therefore find love in that person,
place or thing.

{January 31, 2011}   Love from Top to Bottom.

Love a selfless emotion in which all its euphoria
has everything to do with that which is opposite you.

Love is simply for and about that which we claim to love.
It’s not about “you.”

Love.
I read somewhere, a quote that said something to the effect of:
“Love is that burning desire to be desired by the one(s) we love.”
That’s not “love,” that’s back to it being about “you.”

Love.
Is selfless in that, to ask someone: “why do you love me?” the
laundry list is usually ways you make them feel, or what things
you do to and for them that makes them feel special and loved
That is not what love is-that again, is about “you,”
not what “I love YOU [the other person] is.”

Love.
“I love YOU” is that laundry list of things about
someone else that you love-that list should have
everything to do with them, and nothing about “you.”

Love.
What’s love got to do with it?
Everything. When it is filled with selflessness-complete selflessness.
And surrender-complete surrender…

Love.
It is still that thing in your eye that gleams-all wheely neely.
But the (true) meaning of love is like taking one for the team.…that is what
(true) love is: You, “taking one for the team.”

{January 30, 2011}   Love is.

Simple.
When you are in control of your own head and
your own heart-you do not have to “guard” it from
love (platonic love, romantic love or otherwise).

You guard your head and your heart from people,
situations and surroundings that truly have no
love for you.
And yet at still, you can only do that too-if you’re
control of your own head and heart-just the same.

True love (platonic, romantic or otherwise), has no
consequences or repercussions. That is, if it’s true love…
The funny thing about love is-in life, you’re going to fall for it,
fall into it, stand up for it, and fall down from it, but in the end,
it still falls back to you.
If you are in control of your head and your heart, you down have a problem
picking up the pieces and falling for it, falling into it, standing up for it,
and falling down from it-again.
And sometimes, again and again, until you get it right.
That’s love and that’s life…
People who complicate love typically have no business out here in the game
of it-because they’re usually not done with working on love for
themselves-head and heart-first, (in my opinion).

People are much-much too concerned with: “did you love him/her more than me,”
and all kinds of unnecessary mind wrangles that whether we express them aloud or not;
we are too preoccupied with. That complicates love.
Healthy love, is the realization that chances are, you might have loved him/her more or
less or in different ways for different reasons but if someone is willing to share love
with you and you are willing to share and accept that love, then work with the fact that
it’s us-here and now. So let’s rock and roll with the-us, here and now.
All else is just too complicated.
Love is not complicated (true love isn’t).

{January 30, 2011}   So Compatible…Are We.

I turned to the television
To the sounds of the land and the sea
As always, you capture me-and keep my undivided attention.

no one was waiting there
the atmosphere belonged to only You and to Me

you see
You…
are the Land-the Sand
and
I
am the Sea.
my still waters ran deep-the moment the wind introduced You to me

Hello.
I am pleased to meet You.
Your magnetism kind of reminds me of how the Sea can’t stay away from the Sand

it’s so beautiful how We blend together, and I sink in…to You…
But what’s happening to Me?

You’re always there
i feel your warmth from the sun welcoming me
thirsting for my coolness
longing for my moisture that the sun steals
from you-the Sand
who needs Me-the Sea
We never need an audience. We make our own music.

You love the way I dance
the way I make my waves to you from the wind whispering to me
And I love the way you glisten
from the sun and part of me

the wind touching Me and the sun touching You
just wants to know why
You-the Sand
and Me-the Sea
are so inseparable
so compatible-are we…

But yet, the Sea is a reminder of all that has flown from within Me…
You-the Sand
and
Me-the Sea
are so inseparable.
So compatible-are we?
